Monday


Bear witness to a showdown. A musical showdown, that is. Six bands will go head to head at JACK, located at 505 1/2 Waverly Ave., during a night of new chamber music and experimental performance. Featuring Elevator Rose, Iktus Percussion, mdi ensemble, Pat Muchmore, Quiet City, and thingNY. The evening will feature original compositions by inimitable cellist Pat Muchmore, US premieres by Italian composers performed by Milan’s mdi ensemble, improvisation-heavy chamber music by Quiet City, an electrifying set by Elevator Rose, a two-man political opera by thingNY, and new works by the dynamic ensemble Iktus Percussion. $10 at the door. 8 p.m. 

Tuesday

Clown Around. Bring the whole family to a JuggleFit class to learn to juggle. It's fun, healthy and good for your brain. Equipment will be provided, but space is limited. $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased here: http://jugglefitclass.eventbrite.com/. 212 Smith St. 7 p.m.

Wednesday

Get the ball rolling on your business. The Pratt Area Community Council is hosting an interactive workshop that will focus on improving or creating a marketing strategy for one's business. Topics will include branding a business, the best advertising venues for a business and the best way to figure out advertising for a target market, and setting up a strategy campaign. 896-900 Fulton St. 6:30 p.m.

Thursday

Channel your inner brewer. Learn how to brew your own beer! The masters at Bitter & Esters, located at 700 Washington Ave., will teach all the basics to get up and running while brewing a batch of beer. Learn how to extract brewing, malts, grains, yeasts and how to avoid or troubleshoot the most common problems. All reference materials will be provided as well as a home brew sample for tasting, and starter kits will be available for purchase. Beginners are welcome. 6:30 p.m.

Friday 

Unwind from the week with a show. Catch a free stage reading of The Girl Who Would Be Kinga comedy set in medieval times about a girl named Basil raised secretly from birth as a boy in order to be crowned King. The show will be put on by Gallim Dance Company at Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew, located at 520 Clinton Ave. 7 p.m.
