5 Things: The Royal Ballet of Cambodia at BAM

Plus, four more Brooklyn events you need to know about today.

1. Enjoy some godly dancing. For the next three days, BAM will play host to The Royal Ballet of Cambodia, which at one time only performed for "the gods." Movements in Apsara Mera have been constructed by Her Royal Highness Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, a former prima ballerina, joining two traditional stories of Khmer culture: “Churning of the Sea of Milk” and “The Legend of Kambu and Mera.” $16-20 at Howard Gilman Opera House.

2. Give a shout out to Mom. BRIC and Brooklyn Public Library are inviting residents to make "the ultimate Mother's Day gesture." Come to  Central Library's Shelby White & Leon Levy Information Commons, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza, tonight and record a short, free video shout out to your mom between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The videos will air between May 7 and May 12 on various channels, click here for more details.

3. Cheer 'em on. The Brooklyn Nets proceed to Game 6 of the playoffs tonight in the Windy City. Tune in to see them (hopefully) crush the Chicago Bulls at 8 p.m. on TNT.

4. Whip up a wedding theme. Park Slope paperie Lion in the Sun has partnered with a stable of Brooklyn-based artisans to present "Paper Party," a wedding event focused around invitation suites. Jack From Brooklyn will be serving up Sorrel cocktails while other wedding experts such as Haute So Sweet and Michelle Edgemont will be on hand to share their talents. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. RSVP at Lion in the Sun, 232 7th Avenue, (718) 369-4006 or

5. Don't move a thing. Alternate-side parking is suspended today and tomorrow.
