5 Things: Hop a Ride on a Brooklyn Carousel

1. Get dat money. A new exhibit at Bed-Stuy's Tomato House called “Money” is showcasing a variety local and international artists' interpretations of currency. Head to the Tomato House located 301 Saratoga Ave. between Pacific and Dean streets to check it out on Thursdays through Saturdays, from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. until Sat., June 1. Free. 

2. Have a chat. The Haiti Cultural Exchange is holding a discussion at Five Myles Gallery with gastronomy chef and culinary instructor Elle Philippe on her integration of traditional Haitian cuisine and modern flavors, and the important links between culture and food. Seating is limited, so be sure to RSVP. 558 St. Johns Pl. between Franklin and Classon avenues. 6 p.m. Free, but a $10 donation is suggested.

3. Be merry, go round. The carousel near the Prospect Park Audubon Center is ready and raring to go. For only $2, little ones can take a lap on the 101-year-old ride, open from Thursday through Sunday from 12–5 p.m. For that matter, Jane's Carousel in DUMBO is also available for a spin.

4. Enjoy some music. Noah Redfield, Rob Watkins, the Cornell Brothers, and Bryan Nebel and Friends will be playing tonight at the Way Station. Performances will begin at 8 p.m. and continue throughout the entire weekend, so stop by, have a drink and unwind from the work week. 683 Washington Ave. Free (the music, that is). 

5. Start your engines. Alternate side parking is in full effect today.
