5 Things: Get Funky in DUMBO

1. Dance in DUMBO. Brooklyn Bridge Park launches its weekly dance party series tonight with a New Orleans-themed bash. Rock along with the rhythms of Big Sam's Funky Nation under the open sky with your neighbors Pier 1 of Brooklyn Bridge Park. 7 p.m. Free.

2. Thrill in Cobble Hill. BookCourt will play host to New York Times bestselling author Charlie Graeber as he reads from his latest thriller: The Good Nurse. 163 Court Street. 7 p.m. Free.

3. Get Critical in Park Slope. Head to Union Hall for Literary Death Match, in which four writers will perform "their most electric work" for seven minutes straight and then be reviewed by judges on the spot. 702 Union Street. 8:30 p.m. $12

4. Shop in Prospect Heights. Brooklyn Museum is having a special Mother's Day sale in which all of the William Morris jewelry designed for the shop will be 20% off. 200 Eastern Parkway, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

5. Guffaw in Fort Greene. Get It Out There,  a new comedy showcase featuring emerging talent will begin tonight at BAMcafé. Couldn't we all use a good chuckle? Peter Jay Sharp Building, 9 p.m. Free.
