5 Things: Drop-In Drawing, Folk/Americana and 'The Suit' Opens at BAM

1. Revive your artistic side. If drawing is (was) your thing, get going again in good company at the LaunchPad Drawing Party, where you can sketch a live model for two-and-a-half hours for just $5. Bring your own materials. 721 Franklin Ave. bet. Park and Sterling, 7:30 p.m. $5 (or more if you can). 

2. Get folksy. If you're a fan of folk/Americana, head to The Way Station for Jim Greene and Kelli Scarr. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect, 8 p.m., no cover.

3. Hear a band. Another option in the Americana genre is Black Prarie, who are playing at Union Hall tonight. This string-band describes themselves as "cross-pollinating a number of different styles while exposing the venerable, forgotten roots of folk and bluegrass." Union Hall, 702 Union St. at 5th Avenue, 9 p.m. (8 p.m. doors), $15.

4. See a play. Tomorrow night "The Suit" opens at BAM and runs through Feb. 2. The show is a music-filled adaptation of the fable of marriage and betrayal by South African writer Can Themba. Friday's performance followed by an artist talk. BAM Harvey theater, 651 Fulton St. at Ashland Place, 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25. 

5. Move the car. Sadly, alternate side is in effect today. The next suspension is Monday, Jan. 21 for MLK Day.
