5 Things: Carousel Opening and the Built-in-Brooklyn Craft Fair

Plus, Brooklyn Flea, Cobble Hill Think Tank classes and more.

1. Ride the carousel.
Prospect Park's 100-year old carousel opens for the summer today and will be open all next week (instead of just weekends) for spring break. 12-5 p.m. Prospect Park's Children's corner just inside the park at the intersection of Flatbush, Ocean and Empire Boulevards (Prospect Park station on the Q line). $2 per ride.

2. Support Brooklyn artisans (and get cool stuff). LaunchPad's Built In Brooklyn Craft Fair is back and will be monthly this summer. Not only will you support Brooklyn-based artisans, but you can also get a bunch of really nice stuff in a friendly, community setting. 721 Franklin Ave. bet. Park and Sterling, 12 to 6 p.m. Free.

3. Hit the flea. The Brooklyn Flea will only be operating inside Skylight One Hanson for a couple more weeks before moving back outdoors. Sample the artisanal food, rummage through vintage hauls and peruse the up-n-comer stalls without fear of rain, wind or snow. 1 Hanson Place, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Tackle the greats. Cobble Hill Think Tank is offering a weekend art class for 3rd -5th graders entitled Exploration in Art History Through Drawing. According to the course description, "students will survey, study and discuss works by famous artists, and then use pencil, ink and color to explore their own interpretations and inspired ideas." Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m. $60

5. Find a Tuesday spot. If you can find a Tuesday parking spot this weekend you're set until—wait for it—Wed. April 3, because alternate side parking rules will be suspended March 26-April 2 due to Passover and Easter. Another reason to love the holidays.
