Whiz Kids: Maya and Millan Malhotra Degnemark

Maya, 7 and Millan, 5 have already started their careers in the music business. A&R reps of sorts, Maya and Millan help their mother, Simmi Malhotra Degnemark, choose bands to play in the annual Carroll Gardens Park Kids' Concert Series, held every summer.

They listen to CDs sent by bands that want to play the series, their mother said.

"We have a radio in our room," Maya said, excitedly. "We pick the ones we like the most."

Maya and Millan, both students at , like listening to music and helping their mother, but they also love attending the concerts.

"I like the music," said Millan. "I listen to concerts and play with my friends."

Little community volunteers in the making, Maya and Millan take pride in helping out, especially when they're helping their mother.

"She's happy when I help, she doesn't have to do so much work," said Maya, adding "Helping people makes me feel happy."
