Where To Eat On Christmas Day

From Chinese to Montreal jewish

Finding anything open on Christmas Day is difficult, but getting food can be just about impossible. Luckily, we've done some research. Whether you want a sit-down dinner, or to have food delivered or even to stop by a grocery for some last minute ingredients, we've got a list of places open on the biggest holiday of the year.

This long-standing neighborhood cafe sells a wide range of breakfast sandwiches, wraps and paninis. We recommend their Scammer Sandwich, a large chicken cutlet breast with cheese, bacon, hot peppers and Italian dressing.

With a reputation as one of the best doughnut shops in Brooklyn, they've recently expanded to include a full dinner menu of American comfort food including meat, burgers and pasta dishes. The best part is that they're open 24 hours, so you can drop in whenever family time becomes too unbearable.

With a friendly staff and great prices, this 24-hour establishment is a sure bet to meet your holiday needs. They also offer a special four-course Christmas dinner menu on the 24th and 25th.

Run by Carroll Gardens resident Spero Katehis, the elegant chandeliers and artwork on the wall of this local eatery make you feel like you're in Europe. In addition to a great selection of greek dishes, the diner has a small vegetarian/vegan list of options to choose from.

Hadramout Restaurant

This 24-hour establishment specializes in authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking, with a reputation of being among the best in the neighborhood. Their selta, a traditional Yemeni dish, and lamb shawerma sandwich on hadramout bread are among their most requested items.

Most chinese restaurants are typically open during the holidays and this long-standing Boerum Hill eatery is no exception. The standard options here are cheap and plentiful and they offer free delivery to anywhere in the neighborhood.

This Montreal jewish deli in Brooklyn has earned a reputation in the neighborhood for their smoked meats and fresh challah, as well as their bagels. They keep regular hours during the holidays, but will be closed from 4 to 5:30 pm, as always.

If you want to avoid conversation with your family, take them to this Tex-Mex restaurant where the portions of tasty enchiladas and overstuffed burritos are impressively huge and cheap, with entrees ranging from $8 - $15. If you're forced into small talk, the waiters in embroidered ties, sombreros adorning the wall and serape-blanket covered tables will at least give you a conversation starter.
