Weekend Tip: Be On The Lookout for Peg Legs and Eye Patches

PirateCon is a real thing. As a result, rum-drinking revelers may be roving some of the bars in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Avast, ye landlubbers. If you happen to spy bands of pirates roving the sidewalks and pubs this weekend, stay calm. New York City is not in the midst of an invasion.

Peg-legged, eye patch-wearing, parrot-owning types will be roaming around the city for an event called PirateCon 2012 on Saturday, September 15.

"At 11 a.m. we strike!" announces the group's Facebook page. "This year Pirates will make an Intrepid statement… Converge on the docks of Pier 84."

After gathering at the pier, the group will be traveling to other as yet undisclosed destinations throughout the city, spreading "aaaarghs" wherever they go, no doubt.

Ogle, jeer or join in the fun. It looks to be quite a spectacle.
