Viewfinder: Ping-Pong Benefit & the Court Street Festival

Shots and snaps from two neighborhood events

On Saturday night, 9-year B61 bartending veteran Jamie Mandel played ping-pong for 15-hours in an attempt to raise money to pay his dental bill. Tragically, in 1995 he was in a car accident, and lost all his teeth. Mandel had replacement teeth, but his bone and gum receded around the implants.

According to the Brooklyn Paper, Mandel raised $7,000 on Saturday night. The rest of his dental bill is being put on a credit card.

On Sunday, the Court Street Festival closed the street from West 9th up to Union Street. There were vendors, concessions, politicians and even a carnival ride.
