It’s pretty much a universal truth: fathers are impossibly difficult to shop for.

“Of the Month” clubs may seem a little retro (and not in a good way), but we’re betting even the pickiest dads would go wild for the idea of having cheese delivered to their doorstep every month. Better yet – these cheese won’t be your standard, boring blues or charmless cheddars. Instead, each month the folks at Stinky will send Pops three 1/2-pound chunks of impeccable curated and interesting cheeses, along with informational sheets and tasting notes. “Supa-Size” it and they’ll include specially paired condiments, dried fruits, or chocolates.

A Tree in Prospect Park

Here’s a gift for the dad that really does have everything (or simply doesn’t seem to like anything you give him): as little as $75 will buy you tree in Prospect Park. That way, every time he strolls the park, he’ll be reminded of how much his kids appreciate him.

What could be manlier (or more Dad-like) than dining somewhere with the word “Meats” in the name? Give dad the gift of fine dining — without all the fuss of white table clothes and black tie waiters. Meat-loving poppas will appreciate that the menu is broken up by types of meat.

There is something to be said for the classics. Swing by Tarzian Hardware on Seventh Avenue and pick up some grilling supplies so that Dad can enjoy the height of the barbecue season. Or, if you’re yard-less, pick up a portable grill so the whole family can take the grilling to the park.

A Shave at Persons of Interest

Everyone once and a while, a man likes to treat himself to a nice shave. So treat your dad to a shave or haircut at the ultra-hip Persons of Interest barbershop on Smith Street. Not only will Dad feel pampered by the hair care services – he’ll enjoy the good music, reading material, and above all the beer the shop serves up while you wait.

Cooking Classes at Ger-Nis Culinary Center

Even dads that don’t love to cook will get a kick out of the cooking classes at Ger-Nis Culinary Center in Gowanus. Among other things, the spot offers cooking series, where foodies can learn the ins and outs of cooking one particular kind of food, like this month’s class on eggs. And if your dad doesn’t love to hole up in the kitchen for hours on end, he’ll love attending the Ger-Nis Sunday Supper Club, where some of the cities best chefs whip-up intimate, multi-course meals.
