Thanking Active Duty Servicemen and Veterans

On the anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War, readers are invited to thank local servicemen.

August 4th marks the anniversary of the beginning of the war in Vietnam.

"Although the conflict was one of the most unpopular wars ever, it was the Vietnam Veterans who paid the price," wrote Debbie Gregory, CEO of MilitaryConnection.com in a recent newsletter.

"There are organizations that are working to properly thank these Veterans," she continued. "What is most heartwarming, however, is the Vietnam Veterans that are working to ensure that OIF and OEF Veterans don't suffer the same fate.

"If you encounter an active duty serviceman, please remember to say, 'Thank you for your service.' If you encounter a Veteran, from any era, please take a moment to say, 'Thank you and welcome home.' It is an expression of gratitude that is greatly appreciated."
