Update: Steve's Key Lime Pie Relocating!

The beloved pie makers will be gone from Pier 41 but not going far at all.

Update: Tuesday, Jan. 15. Phew! The Swingle is staying in Red Hook.

According to an interview on DNAInfo, owners of Steve's Key Lime Pie, Steve Tarpin and wife Victoria Gomez, will relocate their business down the waterfront to a new, larger facility in April at Pier 40.

"The new Steve's will be three times larger than its previous digs," reports Grub Street, and will be a combined retail and bakery space.

But, the business owners could still use a hand and are hoping to raise $35,000 to help recover from Sandy and rebuild at the new digs. If you'd like to help, visit their Go Fund Me page here.

After 12 years on Brooklyn's waterfront as the preeminent key lime pie destination, Steve's Key Lime is relocating to another as yet undisclosed location.

"After 12-years on Red Hook's Pier 41, the post Sandy world has brought much hardship, and at the same time, has offered opportunities," owner Steve Tarpin wrote this morning on his gofundme fundraising page. "The opportunity for us to relocate comes at this time, and we wrangled with the opportunity hard and heavy."

The company plans to move from Pier 41 to their new space on April 1, but has yet to release any details of where that will be.

"Making a move like this under 'normal' circumstances would be financially challenging enough, this is why your generosity is even more valuable to us," added Tarpin. "Construction costs were limited at the existing space, just enough to get us operational. Hopefully we'll be able to manage the relocation with the limited budget we have due to Sandy."
