Slideshow: Christ Church on Clinton St. Storm Aftermath
The 171-year-old church sustained damage to its roof, windows and steeple after being struck with lightning on Thursday night.
Lightning struck the 117-foot steeple of Cobble Hill's on Clinton Street Thursday night. Falling debris from the tower and scaffolding and damaged several parked cars, as well as the church's roof and windows.
Adjacent areas of Clinton Street and Kane Street have been closed off to traffic while the Department of Buildings investigates the site. An officer from the 76th Precinct has also been stationed at the intersection to discourage trespassers.
