Kane Street Block Party Canceled

Due to the continued construction around Christ Church after , the 2012 Kane Street block party has been canceled confirm organizers.

"Our 2012 Kane St Block party, if any doubts remained after the tragedy at the church last month, has definitely been canceled for this Sept…

If people would like to have stoop sales, perhaps in coordination with Atlantic Antic weekend, with proceeds to go to the church renovations, Jeff and I will be happy to help coordinate," wrote Maureen Hogan in a recent announcement.

If any nearby streets are still planning end-of-summer block parties, it might be neighborly of you to invite Kane Street residents to participate.

Smith St.'s New Vietnamese Restaurant Has an Old Name

The latest project from the team at — at 345 Smith Street near Carroll Street—has a name: Nightingale 9. The title was inspired by an old Brooklyn phone exchange, says co-owner Kerry Diamond. Longstanding Carroll Gardens residents will likely recall that and others, such as ULster, EVergreen, WYandotte and RUgby.

Kittery Building an Outdoor Bar Area?

Upon recent observation, it would appear that the is creating an area for an outdoor bar service [see photo above]. Here's hoping that the restaurant is able to open before the weather gets too cold to enjoy it. 

September Openings To Look Forward To...

Krescendo: Can a pizzeria from San Francisco's celeb chef Elizabeth Faulkner, who Food Network and Top Chef followers will recognize from various TV apperances, cut it in Brooklyn? Time will tell. The new pie shop will be located at 364 Atlantic Avenue near Hoyt Street.

Runner & Stone: The Gowanus bakery from ex-Per Se baker Peter Endriss , is almost ready to open its doors. Those doors will be located at 285 Third Avenue at Carroll Street.

Fletcher's Brooklyn Barbecue: You might as well eat something while you wait for Dinosaur BBQ to build its future Gowanus outpost [due in 2013]. And with pitmaster Matt Fisher's RUB BBQ pedigree, that something is bound to be pretty tasty. Fletcher's will be located at 433 Third Avenue, near 7th Street.
