Readers List Busiest Intersections in Carroll Gardens

Locals list some of the busiest intersections in the Carroll Gardens area.

There are plenty of tough intersections all around Brooklyn, but with its proximity to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and other busy roads like Atlantic Avenue, Carroll Gardens is home to numerous dangerous intersections.

We asked readers on Facebook to name the busiest intersections in the area, and names like Hamilton, Court, Carroll and Smith were repeat offenders in the responses.

Hamilton Avenue and Court Street, Hamilton Avenue and Henry Street and Smith Street and Second Place were some of the first mentioned.

"Not to forget Hicks and 1st place by the church," said Celia Kutcher. "I can't tell you how many cars I've seen run the light at night, including the police from our precinct.

Court Street was again named at the intersections of Union Street and Second Place.

"From Smith to Atlantic, to Court to 4th Place," said Mary-Jean Campenni Gianquinto. "I am writing this as I sit double parked in my car, and there is no alternate street parking today."

John Mark de Palma added, "Most of Clinton, most of court, most of smith, wherever Hamilton meets all three. Where Atlantic meets all three...heck all of (Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill) has pretty busy intersections. Everyone cuts through here to get to the highways and bridges."

What other intersections are problematic in the area, and what could or should be done? Tell us in the comments section below and add to our list.
