PHOTOS: Brooklyn Greenway Initiative Reception at Alma

The Greenway honored its supporters last night.

has been working hard for over a decade to revitalize the waterfront and build a 14-mile greenway bike lane along the shores of Brooklyn.

Last night, its founders and supporters celebrated the group's accomplishments at on Columbia Street.

"No matter what happens with the economy the Greenway continues to march forward," said State Sen. Daniel Squadron. "It's an extraordinary accomplishment."

Overlooking the soon to be unveiled Columbia Waterfront Park site, guests drank sangria and munched on delicious Mexican food. The preliminary design plans for the park will be released in the coming weeks.

"The Greenway is one of the most creative ideas to come out of Brooklyn in awhile," said Brooklyn Community Foundation President Marilyn Gelber. "The Greenway is Brooklyn's future."
