Photo of the Day: Corned Beef at Staubitz

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, the Court Street butchers offer tips to prepare this traditional dish.

St. Patrick's Day is nearly upon us. In addition to the many Brooklyn events taking place on Sunday, another festive way to celebrate erin go bragh is to cook some traditional Irish dishes at home.

We spotted this cut of corned beef at Staubitz Market Meats and asked their resident experts what to do if one has never prepared it before.

"Bring a pot of water to a boil first," said butcher John McFadden. "Then you're going to cook the meat in the pot for three to four hours, until tender. The last hour, I add cabbage and potatoes."
