Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.

When my daughter Lucy was a baby, a neighborhood mom started a monthly happy hour called Tots n’ Tonic. A bunch of new parents and their babies met at what is now . We bonded over lack of sleep and adjusting to our new lives as parents. As we chatted, we slipped glasses of wine and ate appetizers.
Tots n’ Tonic no longer exists and there has been a lot of backlash about Brooklyn parents bringing their kids to bars. Honestly, I never brought my kids to a bar, but I did enjoy the monthly Tots n' Tonic event. We had free range of the restaurant, they provided free food, and we all had a cocktail at 3 p.m. Since the event was held during an off-time, the restaurant didn’t have any other patrons. I understand why some people are appalled at seeing kids at bars. If you do want an adult atmosphere that is also kid-friendly, venues like Littlefield NYC and The Bell House always host kid events.
