The South Brooklyn Post isn't a "blog," but editor Lisa M. Collins' in-depth article on the Molesi Social Club on Court Street is revealing and eye-opening.

"When we came from Italy, this is where we came. We made Carroll Gardens the way it is now," Sale tells me. "People, they think the members of the social clubs are members of the mafia. It's not that way. We opened businesses. We had a lot of shops. Carroll Gardens is this way because of us."

Always a strong voice on community issues, Pardon Me For Asking wrote an interesting post comparing the issue of in to proposed buildings in Central Park in the early 1900's.

A hundred years ago, as today, buildings in public parks were viewed as a dangerous precedent and against the interest of the public. For decades, New Yorkers have been able to successfully defend their green oases. Lets hope that Brooklyn Bridge Park will not be the exception that becomes the rule.

Our favorite deli, , has been generating a lot of buzz lately as they change their menu for each holiday. First it was latke-fest for Hanukkah and now the Boerum Hill restaurant is serving a "traditional Jewish Christmas" feast on Dec. 25. Read about it on Grub Street.

Cobble Hill Blog runs a post on the newest "celeb" to buy in the neighborhood: British novelist Martin Amis.

The New York Observer's Real Estate blog (via Lost City) told readers about some recent, and shall we say, informative, graffiti on DeGraw Street. (Though we're not sure who didn't already know that DeGraw was the line between Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill!)
