How long have you lived in the neighborhood?: Boerum Hill, 6 years
What do you do?: Photographer
Maybe you don't like to generalize it, but can you explain your style? Your aesthetic?: I do mostly fashion and portraits. Tends to be pretty natural. Nothing too contrived. I just try to let the story be about the people, and try to get their personality and point of view across.

You occasionally shoot in your apartment here in Boerum Hill. What’s that like?: It’s mostly studio work, which is normally not my thing, but if the clients wants to do it, then I’m all for it. It tends to be more clothing and catalogue stuff — stuff that’s really set up.
Is it easier to shoot at home, as opposed to shooting in a studio?: It’s easier because I don’t have to travel, and I don’t have to lug stuff, but I could benefit from a little more space. It’s fine for shooting one person, maybe two, but any larger group than that, it gets to be a little much.

Who’s inspiring you right now? Whose work are you really into?: I’m really into Todd Hido, he’s a San Francisco-based photographer. He does real work and fine arts stuff—they both can be one in the same, I feel like. He recently had a show in Chelsea a few weeks ago I checked out. It’s a lot of landscapes and portraits, which is a lot of what I do, too. I just found it really inspiring. They’re these sparse minimal landscapes and portraits, they have a really quiet tone to them. Kind of dark and sad, too, but at the same time, really, really beautiful.
