Naidre's Carroll Gardens Space To Become Maybelle's Cafe

Changes on the corner of Sackett and Henry streets

Carroll Gardens on Henry and Sackett streets has closed. The lease was bought out by Sarah Lovett, who is opening Maybelle's Cafe, which will continue to sell some of the same items from the Naidre's menu.

The old Cammareri Bakery location, of Moonstruck fame, is undergoing some interior renovations and should open by Wednesday, said new owner Sarah Lovett.

New window seating in the front is being put in, and a marble counter too, she added.

As for the food and coffee, there will be some changes.

"We're revamping the whole menu," Lovett said. "We're keeping the stuff people love, but we're paring it down."

On the new menu will be added gluten-free and vegetarian and vegan options in keeping with the old Naidre's, which catered to meatless eaters.

"We'll have brown rice tortillas and flourless chocolate cake," said Lovett.

And for coffee snobs, Maybelle's has got you covered.

Employee Chris Weingarten was particularly excited about the new coffee to be served: Intelligentsia

"They do free training so we'll all be officially trained," he said, adding that a new handmade espresso machine from Seattle would soon be in use in Carroll Gardens: the Synesso Cyncra

Sounds pretty top of the line to us.

Lovett, who named the place after her pit bull mix, said she intends to apply for an outdoor seating permit when the days get warmer.
