Meeting on Columbia Waterfront Park Tonight

Preliminary renderings of the park on Columbia Street will be presented.

Brooklyn Greenway Initiative and Regional Plan Association are in the midst of , an open public space located on Columbia Street between Kane Street and Degraw Street.

The location of the park is currently the construction site of a $140 million project to revamp the Gowanus flushing tunnel. Once the construction has been completed, the planned Columbia Waterfront Park will become part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway.

In a , nearly 80 local residents met to discuss potential ideas for the park, ranging from the topographical design of the 80 x 400 foot space to the inclusion of recreational space, a small dog park, and a pond or fountain.

Tonight, Brooklyn Greenway Initiative and Regional Plan Association will be meeting with the public once again to show preliminary renderings of the park, offering another chance for the community to share their feedback. 

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 18 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at The Union Street Star Theater, located at 101 Union Street. Those interested in attending the event should RSVP to info@brooklyngreenway.org with "Columbia Waterfront Parkin the subject line.
