Locals Want More Affordable Housing, Different Food Options and More in 2014

Patch asked readers what they want to see in Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Boerum Hill or Cobble Hill in 2014, and they had a lot to say.

On Thursday we asked readers on the Carroll Gardens Patch Twitter and Facebook pages, “What do you want to see in Park Slope in 2014?”.

Here's what you had to say:

On Facebook, Christie Messina Petrone wrote, "A decent bodega on Columbia St. And more Mexican restaurants in the area."

Jamin MendelsohnJuice Press or Organic Avenue in Carroll Gardens.... !

John Mark de Palma: Limited or no alternative side of the street parking. Other neighborhoods have this, why can't we?

Mayra Aldas Deckert: Less chain stores, more local business.

Karla Held: There is no Korean in Carroll Gardens. That would be nice to have. Also we need a good regular fruit and veggie store on Smith St.

Kirksey Liquet Page: Planet fitness, kmart retail store, chipotle, jus to name a few
Shop rite maybe a western beef since fine fare isn't opening back up.

Louise Conti-Franqui: A great Jewish Deli....

Toni D'Andrea: A really good New Orleans style restaurant ! With Hand grenades & the like!

Kate O'Brien: Korean restaurant, PLEASE!

Michelle M Dioca: How about a normal Supermarket....a Shoprite, Key Food...etc.
The Organic Epidemic has to stop.....I grew up in this neighborhood, so sick of organic food, organic people w their organic kids. Just a nice normal Supermarket.
And please....no Jewish Deli.

Kerry Katherine: More affordable housing

Tara Renee: Lower rent!

Allison Tray: How about small businesses? No offense but big chains are exactly what we do NOT need!!! Power to our small businesses!!!

On Twitter, @PortSideNewYork said, "a home for PortSide NewYork and the tanker Mary A. Whalen http://portsidenewyork.org/ "

@mommalougues: a great spa!

‏@d_ivanoff: Love for something to happen on empty property at corner of Smith and Douglass and 2 empty stores at Smith and Baltic.

@mcsnyc9 Jan: more late-night food options

Carroll Gardens needs a decent coffee shop — Cobble Hill is overflowing with them, but Carroll Gardens is a complete desert when it comes to a cozy spot to hang out. When I find myself missing Fall Cafe, and Smith Canteen seems like the closest option, that's a sad state of affairs, indeed.

More local businesses; more places for teens to go to hang out; another community garden
