Local Evening Events to Battle the Hump Day Blues

The Rock Shop, Bar 4 and Tea Lounge are hosting events Wednesday night.

Looking to wind down after work today? There's plenty going on in and around the neighborhood, and we've round up a list of where you can wet your whistle this Wednesday evening.

- At The Rock Shop at 249 Fourth Ave., help send off some of Brooklyn's finest musicians to Stockholm, Sweden for the second annual Brooklyn, Sweden Festival. Watch Designer Drugs, the winner of the Brooklyn, Sweden song contest perform while enjoying an hour of complimentary Brooklyn Lager, IPA, and Pennant Ale. Happy hour prices on Brooklyn beer will run through the night. The event is 21 and over, tickets cost $22 and can be purchased here

- From 9-11 p.m. Bar4, at 444 Seventh Ave., holds "The Kings of Karaoke," a festive, often rowdy atmosphere that encourages singers to enjoy themselves and the audience to get up out of their seats. The bar plays indie, metal, punk, '80s, '90s and all sorts of music between the performances. The computerized systems provide better song quality and a no-glitch singing experience, permitting the performers to let loose without worry. There are two-for-one deals on well and select tap beers, and free shots to those brave enough to get on stage and hum a few bars.

- For a more mellow yet equally entertaining evening, the Tea Lounge, at 837 Union St., holds "Tea and Jam" from 9-10 p.m. The informal jazz jam session is led by Fahie & McNeil, former leaders of sessions at the recently closed Puppets Jazz Bar. The pair will draw some of Brooklyn's finest jazz musicians to a meeting of the minds.
