DATE, PLACE AND TIME: Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The College of Optometry 33 West 42nd Street - Auditorium New York, New York 10036     

PURPOSE:  Please be advised that as part of a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York, there will be a Public Comment Opportunity for the Board to receive written and oral comments about issues relating to Downstate Medical Center and Long Island College Hospital that are or may be under consideration by the State University of New York.  It is anticipated that the Public Comment portion of the meeting will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.

3:00 – 3:30 p.m.  Public Board Meeting

3:30 – 5:00 p.m.   Public comments by elected officials and others 

IN ORDER TO REGISTER TO SPEAK AT THE PUBLIC COMMENT OPPORTUNITY:  

1. Interested persons who wish to provide oral comments should register in advance to speak, by e-mailing the Board of Trustees at trustees@suny.edu or by writing to the Board of Trustees in a manner that will be received timely at: State University Plaza, T-11, Albany, New York 12246. Please register by noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. In your e-mail or letter, please include the subject of your comments and provide a telephone number, as well as an e-mail and address, so that we can confirm that you have a reserved place on the agenda.  Oral comments will be limited to no more than three minutes per speaker, except for elected officials, who will be given up to five minutes each. 

2. If time permits, persons who are not registered by noon on Wednesday but who wish to make brief comments (no more than three minutes) must register in advance the day of the meeting by arriving at least 30 minutes in advance of the meeting time (that is, by 2:30 p.m. on February 7th) and should give their name to the Public Comment Registration Officer. If time permits, such persons will be called upon to give brief public comments.  

3. Note: public access may be limited, based on the capacity of the available room, and individuals may be requested to take turns entering, speaking, observing, and leaving the room. 

4. The Public Comment Registration Officer and the Board reserve the right to shorten the time for speakers, and otherwise to adjust these anticipated procedures, based on the number of interested persons registered or present, topics being addressed, and other relevant factors.
