Do You Know an Extraordinary Woman?
D.A. Hynes is looking for the 6th annual class of Extraordinary Women in Brooklyn.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 6th annual class of Brooklyn’s Extraordinary Women, a borough-wide search for local women who have demonstrated impressive service and have outstanding character.
To qualify, the women must live in Brooklyn and be at least 18 years of age.
In March 2012, Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes will induct the class of thirty-one women, and bestow the title of Neighborhood Ambassador on each.

Previous honorees have been community and church leaders, social workers, teachers, mothers and grandmothers – women who have made an impact on others outside of their employment.
Last year, for her 36 years of community involvement. The former owner of Restaurant Lisanne on Atlantic Avenue in the 1980s, she then went on to become involved in the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation, as well as the Atlantic Antic street festival. As president of the Friends of Douglass/Greene Park, she spearheaded a park redesign and improvements.

The awards, since 2007, have coincided with Women’s History Month, and aim to recognize Brooklyn women who have made a difference in their community.
The deadline for nominations is January 17, 2012. Nominations must include the nominees name, contact information and biography in an email, fax, or letter to:
