Dassara and Black Mountain Wine House Sister Spot Cleared for Liquor Licenses

Smith Street will soon have two more tasty dining options.

Two soon-to-be Smith Street restaurants were approved by Community Board 6 for their liquor license applications on Wednesday night, meaning more tipple for those who partake.

Dassara Brooklyn Ramen, which took over the space , located at 271 Smith Street, plans to serve sake and other cocktails alongside its hotly anticipated steaming bowls of ramen noodles.

Committee Chair Gary Reilly said that the former owners of Chestnut as well as abutting neighbors of the restaurant had both attended the Permits and Licenses Committee meeting to speak out in support of the approval.

Just across the way at 270 Smith Street, a new restaurant opening in the venue was also approved to serve alcohol. Run by owners of on Union Street, the sister spot was originally slated for 204 Sackett Street but had at that location.

But Reilly stated that the committee was in full support of their move to this location and of their application for the license transfer. According to Reilly, the restaurant will reportedly "focus on French style cuisine including charcuterie, pate, stews, cassoulet like the original plan."
