Happy (almost) New Year! Instead of schlepping to Manhattan (who does that anymore, really?), stay around these parts and enjoy the tickle of champagne and the comfort of being able to walk or take a short ride home after a delicious dinner.

Enjoy a prix-fixe menu at this nice Italian restaurant on Smith Street. Options include octopus salad, burrata, homemade pasta in a veal sauce, filet mignon or grilled swordfish. Chocolate cake will be served for dessert. $85 for the meal and a glass of wine, or $150 for unlimited drinks until 1 am.

One of the more popular restaurants in Brooklyn's new wave, this way down Court Street spot has already become a neighborhood establishment. On New Year's Eve enjoy a three-course meal for just $55, a real bargain considering the quality and normal cost of dinner at Buttermilk. Options include chestnut soup, braised lamb ribs, lobster from the Red Hook Lobster Pound ($5 additional), rib eye steak, duck meatloaf and of course, the famous fried chicken. Park Slope's cozy and comfortable hang-out spot offers two seatings on New Year's Eve including including five courses and three beers as well as a midnight toast. Feast on duck confit and cassoulet, finished with chocolate cake and enjoy the many beers from all over the world that the Table features. $55 for 8 pm, $65 for 10 pm.
Lot 2 offers a four-course prix-fixe menu for $45 that includes fresh oysters, winter greens salad, prime rib with creamed spinich and chocolate cake. This hearty dinner will surely prepare you for a long night of revelry!
Perhaps the biggest and brightest star of "branded" Brooklyn is Frankie's Spuntino on Court Street. Luckily, the restaurant also serves perfect Italian fare. A four-course prix-fixe on New Year's Eve is $85 and options include winter squash, tortellini in brodo, roasted suckling pig and pear crostata.
After four courses at Prime Meats you may not be able to put on your dancing shoes! But if delicious food is your thing, PM is the place to be. For $125, endulge in menu options such as parsnip and pear soup, steak tartare, duck cassoulet and wild berry soup with lemon cream, among others.
Carroll Gardens' cleaned-up southern food spot features a four-course prix-fixe menu on New Year's Eve for $65 and a limited version of the regular menu. Options include: Cauliflower soup with paddlefish roe, celery and croutons, Vermont quail with cornbread dressing and chanterelles, braised veal cheeks with stoneground grits, roasted carrots and red wine and pecan praline with cranberries and local apples. A glass of Gruet sparkling wine is included.
This delicious Latin American restaurant based on local, greenmarket, organic and fair-trade ingredients hosts two New Year's Eve prix fixes, one at $55 and one at $150 (includes more menu options as well as drinks and a champagne toast.)

Har Mar Superstar, a true performance artist, will be at in Gowanus. $30 at the door.
's at The Bell House in Gowanus is sure to turn the heat up. Marva Whitney and Bill Prince perform funk and Motown, sure to get you moving, for $40.
Get down and dirty with Mr. Brownstone, a Guns N Roses cover band, at 's first New Year's Eve party. Drink specials abound, and there's a free champagne toast at midnight. $25.
Bars and Parties
Experience a world of delicious cocktails in a fancy Smith Street space on New Years Eve. For $100, enjoy four hours of open bar complete with hors d'oeuvres like sliders and hanger steak crostini. At midnight there will be a champagne toast.
The Gate is again hosting their annual no-cover New Year's Eve event. The bash features specials for the early birds as well as cocktails, a champagne toast and much more!
boasts performances by BR & Timebomb and Illard Scott-- a unique hip hop band featuring violin, trumpet, drums,bass and guitar. $25 covers entrance, two drinks and light snacks.
DJ team The Rub and Rich Medina bring the party to The Green Building on Union Street this year. Come dance to classic and contemporary R&B -- $25 covers entry and a champagne toast.
Stay in the Slope to dance with DJ Mister Disco, spinning indie pop, classic offbeat fare and electro at for just $15.
The hosts the Reverse Dance Band, Prospect Follies Dance Troupe and a light show for a spectacular New Year's Eve event. For $175, enjoy open bar, a cocktail reception, a five-course meal and even the following days breakfast to go.
Murray Hill comes to Park Slope for a fun night of dancing and stand-up entertainment. We hear there will also be circus antics and burlesque, no surprise there! The party goes down at , (where else?), and tickets are $45-100.
Family-Friendly
hosts a dinner and entertainment event complete with a prix-fixe menu, open bar, lobster salad and DJ George Zito. $100 for adults, $50 for kids.
Fireworks sponsored by Borough President Marty Markowitz and the Prospect Park Alliance begin at 11 pm on New Year's Eve. The party includes free hot chocolate and live entertainment by the Rock 'N' Soul Experience.
