5 Things To Do Today: Play Nine-Man Morris, Learn Basics of Beekeeping, Support Writers and More

Carroll Gardens-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

1. Entertain the tots. Kids learn how to play Nine-Man Morris and make their own playing board to take home at the Winter Break Festival at Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park (Use entrance at Flatbush and Ocean Avenues), 1-3 p.m. Free.

2. Become a beekeeper. Discover the basics of beekeeping with both bee behavior and science as a foundation. From power struggles, murder and bee social structure to hive inspections and maintenance, you'll have lots to buzz about upon returning to your nest. Brooklyn Brainery, 515 Court Street between Huntington and West 9th Streets, 8:30 p.m., $50 for a four-session class.

3. Support independent publishing. A Public Space—an independent magazine of art and argument, fact and fiction—will be hosting two readings in celebration of its most recent issue. Ahtors include Leslie Jamison and Timothy Donnelly. BookCourt, 163 Court Street at Boerum Place, 7 p.m., Free.

4. Find out if your train is running ... The F and G trains will be skipping Smith-9th St, 15th St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway, per usual. Jamaica-bound F trains will run via the M from 47-50 Streets to Roosevelt Avenue. Coney Island-bound F trains run via A the from W 4 St to Jay St-MetroTech, according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Yes. Alternate side parking has resumed, according to the NYCDOT.
