5 Things To Do Today: Nurture a Garden, Eat Chocolate, Distract The Kids and more

Carroll Gardens-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

1. Network with tree huggers. The first-ever winter summit for New Yorkers who care for street trees, love parks, nurture gardens and compost creatively is here! Attend to learn about park and garden stewardship as well as trade other greening tips. Joralemon Street at Court Street, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Free.

2. Taste locally made, artisanal chocolate—for free. Clinton Hill-based chocolatiers Raaka will be (so-called because the cocoa beans are not roasted before being blended) for any and all—but especially "dads and singles." Flavors range from Bourbon Cask-Aged to Blueberry Lavender, among others. , 261 Smith Street at Degraw Street, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Free.

3. Distract the kids. This is a series of community- and family-oriented theater designed to engage kids and adults of all ages. Today's show: Same River Water Project with the Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble. Irondale, 85 South Oxford Street between Lafayette and Fulton Streets, all day, adults $10, children $5.

4. Find out if your train is running ... The F and G trains are running normally this week, but will be skipping Smith-9th St, 15th St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway, according to the MTA. 

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Yes. Alternate side won't be suspended again until Monday, Feb. 13 for Lincoln's Birthday, according to the NYCDOT.
