5 Things To Do Today: Sing It Out, Watch 'The Big Sleep,' Talk About The Waterfront

Carroll Gardens-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

1. Let your child sing. Each Tuesday afternoon, Jennifer Hyjack of and open play session for young children (up to age 4) and their parents/caretakers. ArtsCeteraa, 212 Smith Street at Butler Street, 1:30 p.m. $10.

2. Learn about history. Learn the historical relation between film and literature by viewing this film based on Raymond Chandler's 1939 hardboiled novel of the same name: . 10 Central Library, at Grand Army Plaza, 6:30 p.m., Free.

3. Start thinking about "The Waterfront." Public Services Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss the concerns and interests of the people and businesses who call the Columbia Waterfront home. 169 Columbia Street (at the Postgraduate Center), 7:00 p.m., Free.

4. Find out if your train is running ... The F and G trains are running normally this week, but will be skipping Smith-9th St, 15th St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway, according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Yes. Alternate side parking has resumed, according to the NYCDOT.
