What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. Get ready for some silly love songs.

2. Get Folksy. Down Home Radio Show Host Eli Smith and The Fabulous Jalopy Theatre will hold the fifth annual Brooklyn Folk Festival starting tonight, Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21 at the Bell House. The festival includes performances from more than 30 local and national bands, a variety of instrumental and vocal workshops, folk music related film screenings, a family-friendly square dance, and a banjo toss competition. 7 p.m., 149 7th St.

3. Run (or cheer) for a cause. The Brooklyn Law School Student Bar Association is hosting the 8th annual Race Judicata 5k on Saturday, at Prospect Park. All proceeds from the race benefit the Urban Assembly School of Law and Justice, a public high school for low-income students wishing to study law. Prospect Park, 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

4. Go to a carnival. P.S. 38 is holding its annual spring carnival this Saturday from 12-5 p.m. at 450 Pacific St. There will be bouncy houses, giant slides, an obstacle course, sports clinics, pony ride, raffles, field games with prizes, vendors, food and snacks and much more. All proceeds benefit the enrichment programs for the children at P.S. 38.

5. Look for a spot. Alternate side parking is in effect.
