5 Things: Free Burlesque At The Bell House Tonight!

Plus, more South Brooklyn businesses reopening post-Sandy this weekend.

1. Eat local.
Four long-shuttered South Brooklyn food institutions will reopen tomorrow, March 1: After rebuilding their businesses these past few months from the destruction Sandy wrought, Fairway Market Red Hook will be holding a celebration with giveaways, music, Marty Markowitz, and Miss America. Nearby Red Hook Winery will be offering tastings for the first time since the flood. Red Hook Lobster Pound will open the doors to its renovated storefront, which now includes a deep fryer! And, lest we forget, Lucali in Carroll Gardens will be serving dinner for the first time in ages, now that owner/chef Marc Iacono has returned from launching his second location in Miami.

2. Drink local. We're half way through New York City Beer Week (it ends Sunday, March 3). Have you made the most of local discounts, tap takeovers and special events? Stinky Bklyn, for one, has been sharing awesome cheese and beer pairings on Facebook all week. And, frankly, we're feeling parched.

3. Blush local. WASSABASCO will host its annual free evening of burlesque entertainment at The Bell House tonight, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. Featuring over 20 performers in one jam-packed night of striptease entertainment, you can't afford to miss it.

4. Learn local. Entrepreneurial teens will be taught what it takes to start a business at a free workshop being hosted at the Brooklyn Public Library - Central Branch at 4:30 p.m. today. Sounds like a smart idea.

5. Stay local. Alternate side parking is in effect today.
