Previously unseen works by the late NYC sculptor Gaetano Cecere will be the subject of an exhibition and sale at Strawser and Smith, Inc., a 20th century art and furniture showroom in Williamsburg. The sale, open to the public, will include sculpture, objects and ephemera from the estate of Gaetano Cecere.
While Cecere’s sculpture is represented in the permanent collections of The Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Museum of Modern Art, his work has not been the focus of an exhibition in over forty years. This recently discovered collection will include 42 sculptures, 350 tools and assorted ephemera which once populated the artist’s studio space in the famed 41 Union Square building.
The exhibition will be held 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. from Thursday, May 8th to Saturday, May 10th.
