VIDEO: In White Gowns, Schermerhorn Street Couple Tie the Knot

Stacey Minondo and Barbara Tremblay were the first same-sex couple to wed in Brooklyn's Borough Hall.

Barbara Tremblay, 40, and Stacey Minondo, 50, have been together for nearly eight years, but Sunday was the first day their relationship was recognized by the state of New York.

"We're thrilled that it's legal," said Tremblay on the steps of the Brooklyn Municipal Building, her new wife beside her, beaming. "We busted out the dresses in my sister-in-law's garage in Marine Park!"

The couple hald a "ceremony of love" last year at Steiner Studios, but today's ceremony made their union legal.

"We were hopeful this day would come," said Tremblay.

The Schermerhorn Street couple planned to attend Andrew Cuomo's same-sex marriage party this evening, and looked forward to all the rest of their days together.
