Support Local Carroll Gardens Artists at GO Open Studios

Ever wish you could curate an exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum?

Here's the next best thing: A new open-studio series this September gives art lovers a chance to vote for who they would most like to see appear in a group show at BMA.

During GO Open Studios, Brooklyn-based artists will open their studios to the community on September 8 and 9. Then, community members who register as voters online beforehand will visit the studios and nominate artists they would like to see featured at the Brooklyn Museum on Target First Saturday, December 1. 

The icing on the cake? Of the 1800 artists participating throughout the borough, 73 are from Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill. So you can go behind the doors of your neighbors as well.

Naturally, popular venues such as are offering up their spaces during the series to feature the work of artists like Julia Cocuzza, Oliver Jeffers and Dean Dalfonzo.

But owners of other types of local businesses are getting in on the festivities as well:

Neighborhood public house,  will serve as the neighborhood GO Information Center for the weekend, and are even leading a bike tour that includes an inside look at artist studios. Jack Gordon, Co-Owner of Triomph Fitness, Health, & Wellness is leading runs through artist studios for his clients. Meanwhile, Victoria Hagman of  will be leading a tour of studios with a focus on historic buildings.

Or, you can curate your own walking tour to check out subjects and sites of particular interest like, for instance, Mark Oliver at 3 Dennet Place—because, who doesn't want another reason to go inside a house on ?
