Sign Up For a Space at the Carroll Flea

This year's fair will take place Saturday, June 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Whether you're an avid collector, a thrifty crafter, or a curious vintage shopper, there's a good chance you may find what you're looking for at the .

In past years, documented items have ranged from "oriental, hand-woven rugs to throwback threads and hand-made jewelry." In fact, in one stop you might find both an extension cord and a brooch for sale. The one thing all of the wares will have in common is that they were either made—or gently used—by one of your neighbors.

Hosted by , this annual fair benefits the park through the purchase of table space. The event will take place on saturday, June 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

"We’re sort of the PTA for the park, supplementing what the City does," says Gary Dolan, the President of the Friends of Carroll Park. To wit, 100% of the space fee goes to the Committee to Improve Carroll Park, a non-profit organization that has been in existence for over 30 years.

"And all funds received by the Committee are spent on the Park," Dolan explains, "mostly on gardening and free children’s concerts."

For those interested in being at the opposite end of the sale, or simply unload some under-used home items, you can still reserve a space at the flea. All spaces along the fence have sold out but 10’ x 10’ plots inside are $35. Sellers should note that reservations only guarantee the space, and all are required to provide their own tables and chairs.

Individuals can either mail in a check or pay in person by check or cash. Make checks payable to CICP. Send to Gary Dolan, 213 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231.

"Please include a note with your name, phone number, email address and a brief description of what you will be selling," Dolan adds. "For example, 'miscellaneous household goods' or 'jewelry' would be fine." Food and drink sales are prohibited.

"If you are coming in person, 213 Carroll is between Court and Clinton," Dolan says. "Ring the basement bell, under the stoop. I am generally around in the day and evening. But call 917-574-0745 before coming by to make sure I will be in."

See you at the flea!
