Sessions Fit Spin Studios Opens

New fitness studio on Van Brunt offers children the opportunity to work out for an affordable cost.

Sara Connolly is a bright, energetic and rock-solid redhead, the prototypical embodiment of what one would expect when meeting a personal trainer-turned-owner of the new gym Sessions Fit Spin Studios at 360 Van Brunt Street between Wolcott and Sullivan Streets. Surprising, however, is her interest in negotiating free or low-cost fitness classes for children in an effort to combat childhood obesity.

"I'm looking to get the word out about my childhood obesity programs at the studios called N.E.E.D.S, which stands for Nutrition, Exercise, Education & Diversity of Skills," said Connolly. "Our nonprofit is taking the initiative to meet and address the needs of children on all of these fronts, battling the unhealthy tendencies in our modern society and fighting for conscious living."

And because some of those most at-risk for childhood obesity do not always have financial resources available to them, Connolly maintains an open-door policy.

"More children deserve to learn about healthy exercise and nutrition and take these lessons into adulthood," she said. "N.E.E.D.S Fit will never turn a child away due to financial reasons. We offer free or low cost classes for children. We also offer one-time free class for adults."

But for those who can afford to pay, Sessions Fit Spin Studios offers a wide range of activities to get you off of the couch and into a pair of sweats. From personal training to SPINNING®, yoga, Zumba, Rack workout and pilates programs, Connolly is committed to increasing each client's performance level.

"We also offer American Heart Association CPR AED and First Aid Certification Courses," said Connolly, who in is the process of planning future free wellness seminars and a number of other services that fall under her definition of the "Fit Lifestyle."
