Patagonia Comes To Boerum Hill By Way Of Something Else

The Smith St. clothing shop will have the first in-store Patagonia boutique in Brooklyn.

Stylish, outdoorsy types in Boerum Hill will have a new outpost for finding sportswear this spring, when Patagonia launches an in-store boutique at Something Else.

Owner Doug Grater signed a deal at the beginning of the year to host the mini shop in his Smith Street store, which is open but under partial renovation to prepare the back area for all of the new merchandise.

"This will be Patagonia's only shop in Brooklyn!" says Grater, a third-generation Brooklyn retailer who began working at his father’s Bensonhurst store while he was still in college.

For those unfamiliar with Patagonia, the 30-year-old brand began as a small company that made tools for climbers and has since evolved to a worldwide clothier for "skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running," according to the label's website.

Something Else staff told us they hope to be ready to launch the in-store boutique by the end of the month. In the meantime, they have a bunch of cute Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill t-shirts you can purchase now.
